Tis the season...

Image
What's your motive this year for this season? Will you run around to every store for the cheapest deal or the perfect present? Will you hurry around to make sure you meet your gift giving goals? The same thing happens every year. I was speaking to one of my friends this week and she brought something to my attention. She said that retailers may have Halloween decor up but the day after they immediately go to Christmas themes. It's like we forget to be thankful and our agenda spreads to something more materialistic and self gratifying. The debate remains - was Jesus actually born in this season. There are several theological answers to this question but one thing should be considered. This is supposed to be a season of giving. It is supposed to be a season devoted to making someone else happy. When did it become all about us? God gave us his son because he loved us and wanted his children redeemed. He gave because he loved. So, this is the season to show love because love has been…

Thankful...

Image
I am thankful for alot of things this Thanksgiving... well everyday. I am overjoyed at the fact that God would want to accept me into this awesome family - his family. With all my faults and flaws he sees enough in me to redeem me. I am not the candidate some would expect but with all my imperfections he is made perfect. Thank you Lord. You are so inevitable to my life. I can't picture living without you. Every breath I take is a gift from you. Every battle I win is because of your Word. I thank you for your sovereignty and I rest in that. I trust you. I am thankful to God that I have a husband who understands my physical condition. The head of my house knows how to cater to his wife and I have no problem reciprocating that love. He knows the spirit of the woman he married. With his encouragement and talks it has far exceeded my bodily dysfunctions. I am proud to say he loves me and I honor our love with every breath I take. I am so lucky, well blessed, to have a man that loves me …

Come to your senses...It's Better at Home

Image
When all is gone you realize...It's Better at HomeIn our last lesson we discussed how the prodigal son asked for his inheritance and went and spent it on excessive living - living the life. We find him in the midst of a famine in a far away country with nothing left to spend - desolate and without basic necessities. In this foreign land we find him in the following situation:Luke 15: 15-19 He went to work for a man in that country, and the man sent him out to take care of his pigs. He would have been glad to eat what the pigs were eating, but no one gave him a thing. Finally, he came to his senses and said, "My father's workers have plenty to eat, and here I am, starving to death! I will go to my father and say to him, `Father, I have sinned against God in heaven and against you. I am no longer good enough to be called your son. Treat me like one of your workers.' "  In this lesson we are discussing spiritual runaways. God is our heavenly father and sometimes we fi…

Spiritual Runaway - Lesson 2 : "Give me my inheritance now!"

Image
IS IT TIME? This is the second lesson in our Spiritual Runaway Series. Remember, the prodigal son wanted his inheritance early? Was it time to get it? No. When he got it, the Bible says he went and endulged in riotous living. Riotuos in the Greek also means excessive. In other words he went and did things in excess. He enjoyed everything his body allowed. Afterall, he was enjoying his inheritance. Something that should be considered is this: He asked for HIS portion. He didn't ask for his brother's portion. He wanted what was due to him. Even though his portion rightfully belonged to him it was not time to receive it. He had not matured enough to accept it. That's like my daughter asking me for a ring that's a family heirloom. I may intend on giving it to her but she must wait until she is old enough to wear it. It's all about timing but some people request things out of the time schedule. Do we do God the same way? We think we deserve some things. We supposed to hav…

Heaven Rejoices!

HEAVEN REJOICES WHEN ONE REPENTS
There are alot of churches in the world. Undoubtedly, there are a lot of believers. It's heartwarming to realize that God values his children so much that he rejoices when one of them repents. (Luke 15:10)

It bothers me when people who have known God for a while feel as though they have a monopoly on him. A kind of mind that thinks, "God loves me more!" is simply unbiblical. God's love toward his children is unmatched to any human love. Sure, you may have been saved forty years but his love towards the newborn saints is the same.

There is no level of love in God. If I'm wrong please let me know (with scripture). The very fact that the angels rejoice when just one repents is evidence that his love is special towards us.

Imagine having four kids and one runs away.Wouldn't you still look for the one who's lost... even though the other three are home? That's how God is about his children who ran away or don't really know w…
