It's time for Ice Cream!!

Image
AND IT TASTES BETTER THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD!Some of you may remember my post last week of how my daughter wanted ice cream at 12 noon before lunch. Later on she did get her ice cream. You may remember my comparison with her. I was asking for something I would like to call my "ice cream blessing". Like my daughter I was told no when I asked.Just like my baby I had a hard time understanding that "no" meant "not now". I was outraged. "How could God do this to me? He knows what I need! I've done everything, well almost, that I supposed to do. I just don't get it!"I have a newfound love for Romans 8:28 when it says "all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are the called according to His purpose." Even though I did not understand at first I made it my business to realize God's sovereignty in my situation.Well.... the blessing came through! It's better than I had imagined and it is only going to ge…

But I want it NOW

"But I want it now!" My daughter inspired me to write this post. I believe she has no idea how her little discouragements encourage Mommy with big ones. Friday I told my daughter I would give her ice cream on Saturday. Her face lit up like Times Square and I was happy that my promise made her happy. Well, Saturday came. She helped me clean the entire house including the bathroom. After we got done we sat down to watch "Chowder" (my alltime favorite cartoon). I noticed her looking disappointed so I asked her what was wrong. "You told me you were going to give me ice cream today." Her face grew dim. "I am, but not now." "But Mommy I helped you clean up. Can I please have some? Pleeaaasssseee!?" As much as she wanted it I had to tell her n…

IT'S WORKING TOGETHER...

Image
"Mommy, I want to lick the bowl!" Many of us can remember asking our mother that. She's mixed the eggs, cake mix, sugar and other ingredients and it smells good! We want to lick the bowl and the blender sticks. That sweet mixture has us craving by the smell! But... who asks can they have the raw eggs, the uncooked mix, the cups of sugar and the other material before it's mixed? Who eats raw eggs? There may be some who do but for the sake of this post let's agree to disagree. The truth is... it took all of those ingredients in their raw form to make the sweet mixture we love. It worked together. Now take a look at your life and all the ingredients it contains. There may be childhood traumas, young adult heartache, disappointments in your adult life...but it's working together. It does not taste like much by itself. It may be hard to deal with alone but it's working together. Each incident or scar in your life is not designed to hurt you. It's designed to…
