THE PUNISHMENT I DESERVED...

Image
Isaiah 53:5-6 (Contemporary English Version)Contemporary English Version (CEV) Copyright © 1995 by American Bible Society

5He was wounded and crushed because of our sins; by taking our punishment, he made us completely well. 6All of us were like sheep that had wandered off. We had each gone our own way, but the LORD gave him the punishment we deserved. We here at NMS Online understand this:Our scars or the past injuries that were inflicted upon our psyche are healed because of Jesus being wounded. Because of Jesus being wounded and scarred physically and emotionally we are able to enjoy full remission in the spirit. He was wounded and crushed because of me - my sins. Can I make this personal? Jesus took my punishment or my penalty. He allowed me to have success in all parts or elements of my life. Even though it may seem otherwise you are successful and completely well when your spirit understands that it relies totally on God. Catch this in verse 6. ALL of us have wandered off like sh…

2-6The servant grew up before God—a scrawny seedling,
a scrubby plant in a parched field.
There was nothing attractive about him,
nothing to cause us to take a second look.
He was looked down on and passed over,
a man who suffered, who knew pain firsthand.
One look at him and people turned away.
We looked down on him, thought he was scum.
But the fact is, it was our pains he carried—
our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us.
We thought he brought it on himself,
that God was punishing him for his own failures.
But it was our sins that did that to him,
that ripped and tore and crushed him—our sins!
He took the punishment, and that made us whole.
Through his bruises we get healed.
We're all like sheep who've wandered off and gotten lost.
We've all done our own thing, gone our own way.
And God has piled all our sins, everything we've done …

SIMPLE FAITH - PLAIN TRUTH

1 Timothy 2:5-6 (The Message)
The Message (MSG) Copyright © 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson

4-7He wants not only us but everyone saved, you know, everyone to get to know the truth we've learned: that there's one God and only one, and one Priest-Mediator between God and us—Jesus, who offered himself in exchange for everyone held captive by sin, to set them all free. Eventually the news is going to get out. This and this only has been my appointed work: getting this news to those who have never heard of God, and explaining how it works by simple faith and plain truth. There are quite a few things to take from this. We'll take seven. 1) He wants not only "us" but everyone saved. Everybody is a priority to God. He wants everyone redeemed. 2) He wants everyone to know the truth. There is one God! Many don't believe this truth but God wants it broadcast 3) There is one mediator or middle man between you and God. This person is not that popula…

I GO TO THE ROCK

Image
Psalm 62:7 (Contemporary English Version)Contemporary English Version (CEV) Copyright © 1995 by American Bible Society

7God saves me and honors me. He is that mighty rock where I find safety. God saves me. This means he keeps me in a safe condition; safeguards me. He sets me free from the consequences of sin; redeems me. We have to know that God gives us this privledge to be saved. Whatever you thought saved was- any church political view -make sure it lines up with this simplicity - you are protected and redeemed from your past. Let's go King James. In God [is] my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, [and] my refuge, [is] in God.
He is our glory. In the Greek glory in this case is kabowd - honour, abundance. So God not only is our protection and redemption but he is our honor. He is our source of credit or distinction. He has given us the privilege of being associated with or receiving favor from Him. What an honor he has bestowed on us! He is our abundance. He is our o…

The Sun and the Son

Image
Many who know me know I have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I use every aspect of my experience with this disease to teach something spiritual... something deeper. I woke up this morning and I didn't feel like coming to work. I didn't want to get out of bed. I just wanted to lay there and sleep... really do nothing. I got enough energy to do my morning routine. When I got to my office I opened up my window and the sun seemingly smacked me in my face. You've heard people say, "Get out and get some sunshine! It will make you feel better!" Well guess what? They are not lying. The sun actually made me feel so much better! It shocked me so much that I looked up MS and sunshine and there are plenty of sites justifying my feeling. Getting out and opening a window to let sunshine in did volumes for me. Now, being that this site is dedicated to spiritual sclerosis - the past events that have damaged how we think, walk and see... what is the spiritual answer? Scler…

Gift over death!

Image
Sin or any reprehensible or regrettable action, behavior, lapse, etc.; great fault or offense pays off with death or the end of life. We are all destined to leave here one day but it's your choice of destination. Your sins equal death. It equals your life ending. I hear you. You just said all of us were going to die. True. Some of us will not die indefinitely. Meaning, some of us will only die naturally. In the spirit we will live on in such a grand way... in the Kingdom of God. What is a gift? A gift is something acquired without compensation - something you don't have to pay for. So God gives the gift of eternal life. When you accept Jesus into your life you are granted life that will be without an end; lasting forever; always existing. All it takes is faith in someone that cares so much for you. Take the gift over sin and live. Romans 6:23 (Contemporary English Version)Contemporary English Version (CEV)Copyright © 1995 by American Bible Society

I'M NOT WORRIED ABOUT THE LACK OF RAIN!

Image
Jeremiah 17:7-8 (Contemporary English Version)Contemporary English Version (CEV) Copyright © 1995 by American Bible Society

7But I will bless those who trust me. 8They will be like trees growing beside a stream-- trees with roots that reach down to the water, and with leaves that are always green. They bear fruit every year and are never worried by a lack of rain. You are blessed when you trust God. When you rely on the integrity, strength, and the ability of God you are happy and content. You don't have anything to worry about because you have put your trust in God, not your job, friends or family but in Him alone. Why put your confidence in anything else? Other things vary or change but God in his love never changes toward you. When you trust God you will be like a tree who has roots that reach down to the water. Jesus is the living water. When the fundamental or essential part of you is buried in him your "leaves are always green". When you see a tree or plant with gre…

STOP IT!

Image
1 Peter 2:1-3 (Contemporary English Version)Contemporary English Version (CEV)Copyright © 1995 by American Bible Society
1Stop being hateful! Quit trying to fool people, and start being sincere. Don't be jealous or say cruel things about others. 2Be like newborn babies who are thirsty for the pure spiritual milk that will help you grow and be saved. 3You have already found out how good the Lord really is. This passage says it quite plainly. Stop! Stop being hateful, stop trying to fool people! Start being sincere. How can I be that? To be sincere is to be free of deceit, hypocrisy or falseness. When you are sincere you are real and genuine. People know when you are genuine. It's obvious when someone is being fake. You may fool some people but others will know when you are really being real with yourselves and them. Don't feel resentment against someone because of that person's rivalry, success, or advantages. Some of us can't handle someone else's success. That&#…

MTV TOMORROW

Image
I was invited to attend a "NAMI - In Our Own Voice: Living with Mental Illness" presentation on Tuesday, February 18 on my kob. The presentation will be filmed by MTV because one of our NAMI consumers is going to present. Her story will be featured on MTV's reality show True Life: Living with Schizophrenia scheduled to air May 30, 2008. Mental illness is serious and being that I work in this field I am assured that people can change. Not only pray for me as I make my cameo tomorrow but pray for everyone who is dealing with or knows someone with a mental illness. Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.

FOR HIS NAME'S SAKE

Image
Psalms 23:1-3 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. The Lord IS our shepherd! A shepherd is a person who protects, guides, or watches over a person or group of people. So God is the person who protects, guides and watches over you. Since he is that person you shall not want. Or you shall not be without or be deficient in anything. He caused David to relax in this psalms. David in green pastures, he was led beside still waters. His soul was restored. What does it mean to restore?  It means to bring back into existence, use, or the like; reestablish. What is your soul? Your soul is the emotional part of human nature; the seat of the feelings or sentiments. In other words David is saying God restoreth - continually reestablishes his emotional part of his human nature, the seat of his feeling and sentiments. It'…

Peace

Image
Looking deep within your soul
through the center of your pupils there is no way you can convince me that something isn't wrong. I see. I see into the depths of your soulI know there are secrets untold As deep as the ocean and as wide as the sea only as far as my eyes can see, is the hurt and the pain
you are hiding and don't want to free
God calm her spirit, sooth her soul
wrap your arms around her
Oh, just love her so
Peace!
I speak
Peace! 1 Corinthians 1:3 (NLT) "May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you His grace and peace." John 16:33 (KJV) "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have ovecome the world."

PARTAKERS WITH UNLIMITED PROMISES

Image
2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Three things to pull from this scripture: We are given exceeding great and precious promises. What are promises? A promise is something that has the effect of an express assurance; indication of what may be expected. A promise is something you can bank on. If a promise is given unto us by God we know we can be assured it will happen. It will be great - wonderful; first-rate; very good, exceedingly - to an advanced degree, extreme. The promises God makes to us are precious. This means they should be highly esteemed; cherished. God gives these promises to us. What someone gives you is considered a gift. God has granted us a lot in his promises. We are partakers of the divine nature. What is a partaker? A person who haves a part of the quality, nature, or character of something. What part or natu…

Not just your mother...

Image
"NOT JUST MY MOTHER?" DEUTERONOMY 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; Things we should pull from this verse: - "Know" that the Lord, YOUR God, he is God When you know something you perceive it directly; grasp in the mind with clarity or certainty. We must comprehend fully that God is God and he is OUR God. No one should shake that in your mind. God is God and he is MY God. It's personal. - He is faithful. Greek word 'aman meaning Faithful in English means true to one's word, promises, vows, etc.. It is also defined as reliable, trusted, or believed. Your God is God and he is true to his Word, his promises and vows. He is reliable, trusted and should be believed. He keeps covenant and mercy with them that love him. Covenant is defined as a divine agreement by God to keep a promise. Along with his promises he gives mercy, …

ARE YOU READY TO ANSWER?

1 Peter 3:15 (King James Version)15But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Okay, you know people who have questions about your faith. They want to know why you believe what you believe. The Word says we should always be ready to give them an answer. First, we have to santify the Lord God in our hearts. The Greek word for sanctify in the text is hagiazō, which has these definitions: 1) to render or acknowledge, or to be venerable or hallow 2) to separate from profane things and dedicate to God a) consecrate things to God b) dedicate people to God 3) to purify a) to cleanse externally b) to purify by expiation: free from the guilt of sin c) to purify internally by renewing of the soul So we have to do these things in our heart, Greek word, kardia which means: 1) the vigour and sense of physical life 2) the centre and seat of spiritual life a) the soul or mind, as it is the…

HE GIVES PEACE BY ALL MEANS

2 Thessalonians 3:16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. Our Lord is the Lord of peace. Peace is defined as freedom of the mind from annoyance, distraction, anxiety, tranquillity or serenity. Our Lord is the Lord of all of that. Since he is the Lord of peace. He can give us freedom of the mind always by all means. Means is defined as available resources. So our Lord, which is the Lord of peace can himself give us tranquility and serenity by all available resources. Don't ever get to a point where you say, "I will never have this because there is no way it's possible!" Your God masters peace because he can do anything to give you peace. All means for your peace are available to Him. There is nothing to hard for God and there is nothing unattainable. He can do anything!  Looking for last minute shopping deals? THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (King James Version)

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of
all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which
are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.Are you dealing with a tough time in your life and need comfort? The Bible says our Father is the
father of mercies and ALL comforts. Comfort in the Greek is, paraklēsis, meaning
consolation, exhortation, intreaty. In English the word comfort is described as a feeling of
relief or consolation. So God is the God of all consolation or relief. Whatever you need relief
from he is able to offer that relief. He is the God of all comfort. He comforts us in all our tribulation. Tribulation in Greek in this text is thlipsis which means
anguish, burden, persecution, trouble. So God gives us comfort in all these things. This is not
just for us. This comfort is meant to share. He wants us …

HE TRULY IS ALPHA AND OMEGA

We sometimes have a hard time realizing that God truly is Alpha and Omega.

Israel and New Breed went there with this song. What provoked such strong worship with just two words...Alpha and Omega.

Let's take a look.

Revelation 21:6
He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.

Let's look at this passage. First of all Jesus says that it's done or completed. He makes this statement as he shows John things that will occur at his second coming. Then he makes the introduction.

I am the Alpha, Greek- A, the first letter of the alphabet the beginning. He is the "arche" (Greek word for beginning). In other words he is the person or thing that commences, the first person or thing in a series, the leader. What series are we referring to? He is the first son of God. Through his sacrifice he has given us the ability to be children of God.

He is al…

MY CONFRONTATION WITH THE DISEASE OF MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

Image
This is a personal post... just explaining how I feel about some things. If you care to continue reading please do...especially if you have been diagnosed with the disease... I have had to defend my diagnosis and my faith the past two years and in this blog entry I will try to share with you my case. Many people ask me, "You said you were healed of MS, why is it that you still suffer in your body sometimes?" With the carnal eye that is a just question and I will try to give an accurate answer. I believe that God "allowed" me to face something physical to show me something spiritual. This disease is unpredictable and incurable. It's chronic- meaning it works over a period of time. I understand the effects of the disease contrary to some people's beliefs. There people I am up against daily: They say The Christians who believe I should mention nothing about the disease. I should ignore its effects and "claim healing" To them I say: I have claimed my healin…

LAST BUT NOT LEAST... LOVE DOES NOT FAIL

We have heard it spoken several times... "God never fails". 1 Co 13:8 agrees. Love, which is God, never fails. You know we gotta go there right? Greek: G1601 ἐκπίπτω ekpiptō ek-pip'-to From G1537 and G4098; to dropaway; specifically bedrivenout of one's course; figuratively to lose, becomeinefficient: - be cast, fail, fall (away, off), take none effect. In other words... God never drops away. You may feel alone sometimes but nothing could be farther from the truth. God has not and will not drop away. You can't lose him when you hold on to him. He will never fall or stop taking effect. Our God is effective meaning he is adequate to accomplish a purpose; producing the intended or expected result (that's what dictionary.com) says. Not only is our God effective but he is NOT inefficient. He doesn't have it in his character. God isn't inefficient meaning he is not lacking in ability... he is OUR FATHER. He is love! Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-al…

LOVE REJOICES IN TRUTH NOT INIQUITY

Love rejoiceth not in iniquity Rejoiceth G5463 χαίρω chairō khah'ee-ro A primary verb; to be full of "cheer", that is, calmly happy or well off; impersonal especially as a salutation (on meeting or parting), bewell: - farewell, be glad, God speed, greeting, hail, joy (-fully), rejoice. Not ininiquity Iniquity G93 ἀδικία adikia ad-ee-kee'-ah From G94; (legal) injustice (properly the quality, by implication the act); moral wrongfulness (of charater, life or act): - iniquity, unjust, unrighteousness, wrong. So love is not well off or full of cheer when it comes down to moral wrongfulness and unrighteousness. Wrongfulness is defined as that which is contrary to the principles of justice or law (in this case God's law). How many times have you heard people reacting positively to something wrong as if it was nothing wrong with it? They are content and comfortable with unrighteousness which is failure to adhere to moral principles. This is especially true for today's generati…

LOVE DOES NOT THINK EVIL

Image
Love thinks no evil Thinks – Greek- logizomai Word means esteem, impute, lay, number, reason, reckon, suppose. That's a lot in regards to think. Let's review the first two in English. Esteem- Look on as or consider, Regard highly; think much of Impute- Attribute or credit to Okay, love does not look on, attributes, credits or thinks much of evil. Evil- Greek-kakos Kakos means bad, evil, harm, ill, noisome, wicked. We should be relatively familiar with all these definitions but let's pick out the least known- noisome. Noisome is something that is causing or able to cause nausea. I guess that's where people get the saying, "That makes me sick!" Love does not look on or gives credit to things that are bad, evil, harmful, wicked and it's safe to say nauseous. Stop thinking about things that make you sick. It's not worth the Pepto because it's not love. Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.
